Ask most people what the UAE is and they'll say Dubai or Abu Dhabi. But the UAE is seven emirates, and Ajman is one of the most affordable and relaxed bases for a visit, with quieter beaches, lower hotel prices and Dubai and Sharjah within easy reach.
One thing is worth clearing up first. There is no separate "Ajman visit visa". A UAE visit visa is valid across all seven emirates, and "Ajman" only matters in two ways: where your host or hotel is based, and which authority handles your file. Visas connected to Ajman are processed through ICP. Dubai has its own authority, GDRFA.

Do You Need a Visa for Ajman?
It depends on your passport. Citizens of many countries can enter without applying in advance, and others qualify for a visa on arrival, usually 30 or 90 days. Check your eligibility on the UAE's official visa checker before you book anything. Some nationalities, including Indian passport holders in certain cases, qualify for a short visa on arrival only when they hold a valid visa or residence permit from specific countries. If you don't qualify, you need a pre-approved visit visa.
Also check the UAE visa requirements for your nationality, and confirm that your passport doesn't have an unresolved immigration issue. An unresolved fine or ban can make a new application fail.

Two rules apply to most visit visas. The visa must be used to enter within 60 days of issue, and your permitted stay starts on the day you enter, not the day it was issued.
For the five-year visa, ICP asks for proof of a bank balance of about USD 4,000 held over the previous six months, and no local sponsor is needed.
Who Can Sponsor a Visit Visa?
Licensed tourism establishments. Airlines, hotels and licensed travel agencies act as sponsors for tourists, which is the route most visitors take.
UAE residents. A resident can sponsor a relative or friend through ICP's smart services or the ICP app. The host logs in with UAE Pass, chooses the visa type (friend or relative), selects single or multiple entry and a 30-, 60- or 90-day stay, fills in the visitor's details, and the entry permit is emailed once approved. Salary and relationship requirements depend on who is being sponsored and for how long, so confirm them before you apply.
You cannot simply apply at a UAE embassy and expect a visa without a sponsor or approved channel.
Ajman Visit Visa Requirements
Most applications need:
- Passport copy with at least six months of validity, showing the personal data page. The original passport is normally not submitted.
- Passport-size photograph meeting the UAE photo requirements (white background, clear face, recent).
- Return or onward ticket.
- Hotel booking or accommodation proof in the UAE.
- Host details if a resident is sponsoring you (name, Emirates ID, address, phone number).
- Additional documents for some nationalities. For example, a copy of your national ID card may be requested.
- Legal residence proof if you live in a country other than your country of citizenship.
- Details of any previously cancelled UAE visa and exit record, where relevant.
The older requirement that women travelling alone submit a no-objection certificate is not a general rule for visit visas today.
How to Apply for an Ajman Visit Visa
You can apply online, through a licensed typing centre, or through an authorised visa service. A typical online process looks like this:
- Choose your visa type and duration based on your trip plan.
- Gather scans of your passport and photo. Use clear, uncropped images.
- Submit the application through the ICP portal or app, or through your airline, hotel or visa provider.
- Pay the fee online by card or approved payment method.
- Track approval. Regular applications typically take 1–3 working days.
- Receive your e-visa by email. Print a copy or keep it on your phone and show it at immigration. Passports are increasingly not stamped for e-visas.
Details on the form must match your passport exactly, including name spelling and passport number.
Visit Visa Fees in 2026
Fees vary by visa type, channel and service level. Published figures differ across official pages and providers, so treat these as indicative:
- 30-day single entry: roughly AED 250–350
- 60-day single entry: roughly AED 300–550
- 90-day single entry: roughly AED 600–750
- Multiple entry: higher, and some providers ask for a refundable deposit
- Urgent processing: extra charge
- Service fee: added by agents, airlines and typing centres
On official Dubai listings, a 30-day visit visa was AED 200 and a 60-day visa AED 300, plus 5% VAT. Third-party guides quote higher totals because of service and processing charges. Always confirm the final amount on the official ICP or GDRFA page before paying.
Can You Extend a UAE Visit Visa?
Often yes, and it's better to do it before your visa expires. Extensions are usually granted in 30-day increments, but the total time you can remain is capped, and the limit is often cited as 120 days from entry. Some 30- and 60-day visas can be extended twice, while other types allow different arrangements. Check your own visa's terms.
Best practice:
- Apply at least 5–7 days before expiry
- Expect processing of about 1–5 working days
- Pay any outstanding fines first, since they can block the request
- If you can't extend, leave before expiry, or consider a status change or an exit-and-re-entry option where available
Overstay Rules and Fines (Updated in 2026)
The old rules have changed. Since 11 February 2026, the overstay fine is a flat AED 50 per day across visa categories and all emirates, and the grace period that used to apply to tourist visas has been removed. Fines start the day after your visa expires.
Unpaid fines are flagged automatically at airports and borders and can lead to departure bans, blocked future applications and, in serious cases, deportation. You can check and pay fines through the ICP portal, the GDRFA portal (for Dubai-issued visas) or the UAE Pass app. The temporary waivers offered to travellers stranded by the early-2026 flight disruptions have ended, so do not count on them.
Can You Work on a Visit Visa?
No. A tourist or visit visa does not permit employment, and working on one can bring fines and other penalties. If you receive a job offer, your employer needs to arrange a work permit, and your status is changed to a residence visa. This can often be done inside the UAE without leaving. Fix the issue and reapply through the same channel. Applying again with the same mistake usually gets the same result.
